Description

Glendon Classes of '66 and '67 - Celebrate at the 50th Anniversary Alumni Reunion on Saturday, April 29

The classes of ’66 and ’67 sure have a lot to celebrate. It's been 50 years since our classes graduated, and a landmark like this deserves recognition. The Pro Tem Committee— Don Bangay, Peter Broadmore, Margot Dixon, Bob Drummond, John Lennox, John Smith and Virginia Willison—invites you to Glendon's 50th Anniversary Alumni Reunion. Join former classmates and old friends to commemorate an exceptional time in our lives.

In 1963 – four years after its creation – York University admitted the first cohort of students to study for the BA or BSc within an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum designed to realize the vision of York’s founding President, Murray Ross, outlined in his book, The New University.

Those students – as well as some who joined a year or two later – graduated in 1966 and 1967. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of these graduating classes, we've organized a very special day at Glendon for former classmates and old friends to remember a very special time in their lives.

The celebration includes:

3:30pm to 5pm – A welcome reception at Glendon’s Centre of Excellence – the state-of--the-art building opened in 2012 that house language labs, open study spaces, an amphitheatre and classrooms.

5pm to 6:15pm – Campus tours with Glendon Student Ambassadors

6:30pm to 9pm – Dinner in the Main Dining Hall

Please RSVP by Wednesday April 19, 2017 as space is limited.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

The event includes one complimentary drink and hors d’oeuvres during reception, a guided tour of the Glendon campus, and dinner in the Dining Hall (cash bar available).

Complimentary parking also included.

DONATE TO THE GLENDON CLASSES OF 66-67 AWARD

The Pro Tem Committee asks you to join us in celebrating great memories from the early years by establishing a legacy for the future. The Committee has helped initiate a new award that recognizes the important contribution of the Glendon Classes of ’66 and ’67 to celebrate this significant milestone. The Award will benefit an undergraduate student who has completed the required general education courses with the highest GPA.

This commemorative award will not only provide financial support to a current student but it will also recognize interdisciplinary studies—a core value of the York curriculum today as well as 50 years ago. Our goal is to create a $25,000 endowment through individual gifts from the classes of ’66 and ’67. Your support will go a long way towards our goal. We greatly appreciate your contribution.

For more details or to make a gift via cheque, please contact Mariya Yurukova, Senior Development Officer at
yurukova@yorku.ca or 416-736-2100 ext 33256.
